Digitalisation and production technology
Digitalisation is driving developments in the high-tech manufacturing industry. Digitalisation and data sharing are crucial for the innovative power of the high-tech supply network. Requirements around integration of data and systems are also increasing. Brainport is fully committed to this through the innovation programme Factory of the Future. But the transition to Smart Industry is slow. Although some of the high-tech suppliers are investing in digitalisation and are well on their way, a large proportion of companies are still lagging behind. High-tech suppliers also have specific knowledge and high-quality technology and therefore a strong basis for high mix, low volume, high complexity production. However, global technology development is rapid and competition is fierce. Without a joint investment agenda, the technology position of the high-tech supply network may come under pressure. It is precisely this technology position that enables excellent manufacturing in the Netherlands.
Ambition
From blind chain to transparent, flexible and self-organising supply network with excellent production. To realise this ambition, the supply network must become 'smart'. Smart Industry is the shared basis where- for suppliers mainly cooperate, not compete. In addition to the transition to Smart Industry, it is essential to maintain the excellent technology position. Production technologies are the unique skills on which suppliers distinguish themselves and where precompetitive cooperation takes place.
Experience Center Factory of the Future
Brainport Industries' activities in the field of digitalisation and production technology have a physical landing site on the Brainport Industries Campus: the Experience Centre. In this Experience Center, companies and knowledge institutes work in various assemblies to develop and demonstrate innovative solutions in the field of automation, robotisation and digitalisation for low volume, high complexity production.
